Children helping children: High school senior serves as blind classmate's 'eyes' in marching band

Children helping children: High school senior serves as blind classmate's 'eyes' in marching band

Today's good news was submitted by Joe Dobkin, co-creator of this site.

This story absolutely warms my heart. Seventeen-year old Laingsburg High School Senior and marching band student, Rachael Steffens, is helping bandmate Autumn Michels, who is visually impaired.

And not just helping here and there.

Rachael literally gave up playing clarinet for her senior year to help Autumn.

"Rachael stands by Autumn’s side at all times to keep her both safe and in formation, while also making sure other band members around her are in the right spots."
